LG, kt defeat LG in ‘Woojung Battle’ resumed after 104 minutes of suspension…

The LG Twins pulled away from the pack in the battle for first place.

LG scored the winning run in the top of the sixth inning of a 4-4 tie against visiting KT Wiz in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Katie Wiz Park in Suwon on Friday to secure a thrilling one-run victory, 5-4.

With the win, LG extended its lead atop the standings to 6.5 games over second-place KT.

In a game that was suspended for 1 hour and 44 minutes due to heavy rain, LG used its bullpen to hold off KT’s late rally.

LG took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Moon Bo-kyung hit a solo home run to center field and Oh Ji-hwan, who singled to right, scored on a subsequent ground ball.

KT hit a solo home run by Park Byung-ho in the top of the first inning, but LG scored two runs on a sacrifice fly by Heo Do-hwan and an infield grounder by Moon Sung-joo to take a 4-1 lead.

KT scored one run in the bottom of the third inning on a Hwang Jae-gyun RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-4 before the game was suspended due to heavy rain.

When the game resumed after 1 hour and 44 minutes, KT tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo home run by Choi Jae-dae and an RBI single by Hwang Jae-gyun.

However, LG regained the lead in the top of the sixth inning when Hong Chang-ki led off with a double to left-center, followed by a sacrifice bunt and a Kim Hyun-soo RBI single to right field to take a 5-4 lead.

KT had runners on first and second in the bottom of the eighth after Jang Jang-woo doubled and Kim Min-hyuk drew a walk, but LG brought in closer Go Woo-seok early to preserve the one-run victory.

KT, which has lost four straight games, is one game behind third-place SSG Landers.

In Daejeon, SSG Landers, led by Han Yoo-seom, beat the Hanwha Eagles 11-6 to snap a four-game losing streak.

SSG opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Shin-soo Choo singled to right and scored on an infield single by Guillermo Heredia.

Hanwha answered in the bottom of the first when Chae Eun-sung launched a three-run home run over the right-center field fence to make it 3-1.

In the third inning, back-to-back doubles by Kim Tae-yeon and Choi In-ho plated two more runs, and two batters later, Park Sang-un hit a two-run double to right-center to make it 6-1.

SSG cut the deficit to 3-6 in the top of the fourth inning when Han Yoo-seom hit a two-run home run to right center.

In the sixth inning, they scored a run on a wild pitch with runners on first and second, and then Choo Shin-soo hit an RBI single to left to make it 5-6.

In the seventh inning, the tide turned.

With runners on first and third, Han Yoo-seom singled and Kim Min-sik bunted to make it 7-6, and SSG took an 8-6 lead when Choo Shin-soo’s infield grounder was turned into a fielder’s choice.

SSG added three more runs in the eighth inning on back-to-back singles by Oh Tae-gon and Han Yoo-seom and a catcher’s error to take an 11-6 lead.

Han went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, including a two-run home run.

In Ulsan, Yoo Kang-nam hit a game-winning three-run homer to lead the Lotte Giants to a 10-3 victory over the Samsung Lions.

Lotte scored the first run in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Nico Gudrum, before Yoo Kang-nam blasted a three-run homer over the left-center field fence for a quick 4-0 lead.

Samsung got a run back in the top of the second on a Ryu Ji-hyuk double and a Lee Jae-hyun RBI single, but Lotte answered in the bottom of the fourth when Jeon Jun-woo drove in Yoon Dong-hee, who had doubled, with a single to left field to make it 5-1.

Samsung cut the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the fifth when Kim Sung-yoon hit a two-run triple to right-center field with runners on second and third.

However, Lotte scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth on back-to-back RBI singles by Yoon Dong-hee and Jeong Hoon to take a 7-3 lead, and in the top of the seventh, Jeong Hoon doubled and Ahn Chi-hong singled to left-center to make it 10-3.

Lotte starter Aaron Wilkerson picked up the win, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings.

In Changwon, the NC Dinos defeated the Kiwoom Heroes 2-1 behind two-hit performances from Eric Peddie and Park Gun-woo.

With the win, NC moved back into fourth place by half a game over the KIA Tigers, whose game was canceled due to rain earlier in the day.

In a tight pitching battle between Peddie and Ian McKinney, a single home run by Gun-woo Park was the difference in the game.

NC was unable to capitalize on Kiwoom starter McKinney, drawing two walks and going hitless through the fifth inning.

However, in the bottom of the sixth, after Son As-seop drew a walk, Park Gun-woo stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and lined a low changeup from McKinney for a towering two-run home run for a 2-0 lead.

Kiwoom got one run back in the top of the ninth as Song Sung-moon tripled and Lim Byung-wook singled to left-center, but it was not enough.

NC Peddie struck out 11 in the seventh inning, allowing just two scattered hits and no runs to improve to 17-6 on the season.

Pedi lowered his ERA to 2.28 and moved into sole possession of first place in both categories.

Meanwhile, the KIA Tigers-Dusan Bears game at Jamsil Stadium was canceled due to rain. 파워볼사이트
