KOREA DIESEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION AGENCY DISPATCHES RESPONCE TEAM, INCLUDING EPIDEMIOLOGICAL INVESTIGATORS, TO THE WINTER YOUTH OLYMPICS SITE

 The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency announced on the 17th that it has dispatched an on-site response team, including epidemiological investigators, to three regions, including Gangneung, Pyeongchang, and Jeongseon, where the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held.

If athletes or competition staff experience symptoms suspicious of an infectious disease, they will receive treatment and testing at the on-site medical room, and if necessary, receive treatment at a hospital designated by the competition organizing committee. Previously, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency established a comprehensive plan to prepare for infectious diseases for this competition and classified water-borne and food-borne infectious diseases such as norovirus and respiratory infectious diseases such as influenza (flu) and COVID-19 as infectious diseases subject to intensive management. The Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games will open on the 19th of this month and run for 14 days until the 1st of next month.
