Kiwoom’s No. 4 hitter Choi Joo-hwan (36) had an Altoran-like performance to end the team’s losing streak.
Choi started at No. 4 (first baseman) in the lineup against SSG in the 2024 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Nov. 11 and went 2-for-5 with two doubles (one home run) and three RBIs to lead Kiwoom to a 5-2 victory. Kiwoom, which hadn’t lost since Sept. 9-10, picked up its eighth win of the season (6-1).
Choi took a 0-0 pitch from starter Roenis Elias over the right-field wall with the bases loaded in the top of the first inning. The home run would prove to be the game-winner. Kiwoom then made it 3-0 when Kim Hwijip hit a solo shot to left field with the bases loaded. Choi Joo-hwan singled with runners on first and second in the seventh inning with Kiwoom trailing 3-2. He took a four-pitch changeup from pitcher Elias for an RBI single to right.
Choi played for SSG from 2021 to 2023. However, after last year’s season, he was removed from the second round draft protection list and moved to Kiwoom. Choi made his presence felt in SSG and the first three games of the season (Sept. 9-11) with two home runs. Kium manager Hong Won-ki praised Choi’s performance, saying, “His two-run shot in the third inning set the tone for the offense today, and his RBI single in the seventh was crucial to the win.”
Choi, who has been a solid center of gravity as Kiwoom’s No. 4 hitter this year, said after the game, “I’m not thinking of myself as a No. 4 hitter, but rather as a hitter who goes out and hits fourth. The manager also wants run production and RBIs, so I’ll do my 카지노 best every game.”
On the mound for Kiwoom, starting pitcher Ha Young-min was the standout performer. The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits in five innings to earn her third win of the season.
“I prepared well over the winter, so I don’t feel too much pressure to pitch as a starter (after a long time). I’m on the mound thinking that if I pitch well, the team can win a lot. I’ve been getting a lot of help from my teammates, and I think it’s paying off. I will continue to do my best to fulfill my role.”
