Following the Ronvols historic gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Rupa Rani Tirki said she got goosebumps when she took the podium and played the national anthem. The Indian Ronballs made history by beating South Africa 17-10 in the final to win the gold medal.

“I am very proud. (When the national anthem was played on the platform) We got goosebumps. We’ve never thought about it, but it’s become possible today,” Ruparani Tirki told ANI.

“Our morale dropped a bit when they tied it at 1-1. But we didn’t lose hope. We talked to each other and understood that we could. We will secure and cover one point at a time,” Nayan Moni Saikia said.

Earlier, India’s women’s triple team, consisting of Tania Choudry, Pinky and Ruparani Tricky, defeated New Zealand 15-11 after the 18th inning in the first round match.

However, the Indian team of lovely Shubi and Nayanoni Saikia lost 9-18 to New Zealand in the women’s pair category.

Earlier Sunday, India’s Ronball men’s pair teams Dinesh Kumar and Sunil Bahadur beat England in a Section C match to reach the quarterfinals.

Tania Choudry, on the other hand, broke her lawnball losing streak by beating Northern Ireland’s Shauna O’Neill 21-12 in the 19th inning, and despite her victory, she failed to advance to the quarterfinals with three consecutive losses against Dee Hogan (Scotland), Arthur Almond (Falkland Island) and Laura Daniels (Wales).
