ELYSIAN GANGCHON SKI RESORT OPENS DEC. 1 AS A NIGHT SKI DESTINATION

Elysian Gangchon Ski Resort in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, will open its first slopes of the season on December 1.Located near Baekyang-ri Station on the Gyeongchun Line, the ski resort has become a trend for ‘skiing after work’ on weekdays due to its proximity to the Seoul metropolitan area and superior transportation .In anticipation of an increase in the number of visitors to the ski resort following the COVID-19 pandemic, the resort has significantly enhanced its facilities and services. In the season earlier this year, the company introduced RFID (electronic tag) gates to provide convenient access to the ski area without the hassle of checkpoints and minimize the waiting time to board the lifts. In addition, the introduction of low-power Bluetooth (BLE) technology made it possible for mobile skiers to pass through the gate without a card after purchasing a ticket, making it a smart ski area. Especially for after-work skiers, the resort will be open until midnight on weekdays and until 3 a.m. on weekends and holidays.

The nighttime lighting will also be replaced from the existing mercury lamps to new light source LED transmitters to operate at the highest illumination level of any ski resort in Korea.
