Football Association “will not be selected until the investigation results come out”

The Korea Football Association (KFA) formed a discussion body consisting of members of the ethics committee, the Fair Trade Commission, and the National Power Reinforcement Committee on Friday afternoon to discuss Hwang Ui-jo’s recent case, which has been suspected of illegal filming of sex. It has decided not to select Hwang until the final result of the police investigation is released.

There was a lot of controversy over Hwang Ui-jo’s qualification as a Taegeuk mark, who was initially investigated by the police as a suspect. On the 21st, he was investigated by police over allegations of illegal filming ahead of the second Asian qualifying round match against China for the 2026 North-China World Cup. Then, he participated in the match against China.

“Hwang Ui-jo is not a criminal. He has not been proven yet,” Korean national team coach Jürgen Klinsmann said, referring to the principle of presumption of innocence. KFA also had the same stance, saying, “There are suspicions, but no charges have been revealed.” 슬롯머신

However, not only civic groups but also political circles have voiced the need to take measures such as depriving Hwang Ui-jo of his national qualification or prohibiting him from participating.

There were voices of criticism against the KFA, but unlike other sports, the KFA only receives approval from the KFA for training and selection of athletes for general competitions like the Olympics and Asian Games. KFA selects and operates national team players for World Cup qualifiers on its own. The KFA also said, “Other than general competitions, the KFA operates national teams in accordance with IF (International Federation) rules. The Hwang Ui-jo incident has nothing to do with the period of reinforcement training for the national team that we approve.”

In the midst of this, KFA took the form of temporarily returning Hwang Ui-jo’s Taegeuk mark after setting up an emergency discussion body in consideration of worsening public opinion.
